Yep, another neutral, un-biased source to prove the point, the Seventh Day Adventist University. How many levels is this wrong on?
it seems that this portion was published in the watchtower in the year 1977 (as i have in the spanish version):.
the radiocarbon dating method has been widely accepted by many scientists as showing that humans lived back to at least 50,000 b.c.e.
that conflicts with what the bible says.. but physicist r. brown of andrews university claims that this radiocarbon dating method is highly inaccurate.

as we all know, the org now wants everyone to count the number of flimsy, one page tracts on every monthly report from now on.... so, what is the general buzz around the traps about how many the average witness is reported to have placed?.
(yes, it is a seriously stupid thing designed to keep the flock busy and also designed to measure their 'spirituality').
i need to fudge my report, and i havent got the foggiest clue what sort of numbers each witness has on average 'placed'......
I don't report tracts, never have, never will.
hi, i am also a practicing jehovah's witness and very proud of it,to say the very-very least..!
i am a middle-aged man with many decades of being a witness of jehovah god in england.. this important letter is personally to you, just as many of the bible's 88 letters are to be taken personal by you the reader.
i am writing to you to urge you to take stock of your life, think what your future holds for you.
Enough already, move on.
my wife and i spent last evening, as so many did, concerned for the king family and their little boy ashya (bbc report).
it's clear that blood is not an issue in their decision to take ashya away from hospital and the vital medical attention that he needs.
the watchtower office of public information also denied "that their decision is in any way motivated by any religious convictions".. hmmm.
Nicolau, I know you feel close to this familiy and my heart goes out to you and them. I don't know if the video was a specific trigger to what has happened but I do believe that the resurrection doctrine is part of the miasma of belief that affects their thinking and reduces the value of life.

Sparks.
I too am an active JW in my 60s. i have probably been baptized as long, probably longer than you have so I feel qualified to come back on many of your points. Here are some randomly chosen.
1975
If you really lived through that period you know that you are being intellectually dishonest. Every card carrying JW believed whole-heartedly that the end was coming in 1975. There was nothing in print or from the platform that discouraged that view in any way, in fact it was actively and enthusiastically put forward as the party line. The vibe was as specific and focused as is the JW.ORG hysteria at present. The word hysteria is an accurate description of the mood of the day. If you can point me to a word in print to discourage this view I would be pleased to read it.
The Blood issue
I was brought up to believe that the taking smallest particle of blood in food or medicine would condemn me to Jehovah's everlasting judgment. Wall's eventually got so fed up with letters asking about the ingredients of ice cream and sausages that an instruction had to be given to cease and desist writing to them. If you were seen eating a Wall's ice cream it was touch and go if you were up before a JC. Fast forward, now you can pick and choose from the medical blood fractions, it's your conscience. Is this the light getting brighter or the light getting muddier? Who is going to give the blood fractions? Have you donated this week?
The Generation Teaching
This is an example of the light not getting brighter but getting irredeemably more complex and murky. The simple message "Your generation will see the end of this system" was absolutely the most basic message of our generation. By "our generation" I think I am making myself clear. I don't mean my parent's generation or that of my children or grand children. The teachings of the society, oh! sorry, organization were altered by "new light" when it was obvious to anyone that they were completely wrong. This after the generation that was promised the end in 1925 had already passed into history. Who knows, in 2025 they may try the same thing when we are either gone or are too old to make waves. Incidentally, I have yet to meet anyone, elder or other who can explain the latest teaching.
You are right in saying that when we are gone that there is nothing. That is nothing to fear, it does not involve pain or heart ache. It does give more meaning to the life we live though. Don’t live for a fictional future, live your life now fully, not selfishly but leave this planet and those around you in a better state than you found it. Don’t leave it to a fictional grand-daddy to make it all better.
I have read your post with interest and am treating it as a serious effort to help me. I would really appreciate your comments either in open discussion or PM. I reaaly am interested how you view these issues. One of my huge life issues is not being able to discuss real, sincere differences honestly and openly so please Sparks answer my points.
bluegrass music to me is the most delightful, happifying music, esecially when outside, listening to it live.. one of my favorite entertainers has always amazed me with his talent on the banjo.
this clip with earl scruggs ( whos son was engaged to a friend of mine, which makes him even more of a special entertainer to me) and steve martin, (one of my very favorites in both hollywood and music genres) is one of my favorite clips of this song.
it shows the true humility of steve martin making sure the stage was not all about him, even though he was more well known in hollywood.. i wish, really wish, one of my kids would have taken up the banjo.
Happifying? Straight from WT 1984, room 101.
i'm a 17 year old from scotland.
can i just say this site is absolutely brilliant.
finally found people with open minds and free thought that doesn't just consist of "well the wt told me this so it must be right".. my story is that i'm just like any other child of a jw...brought up into a life of indoctrination where "the world's" thinking is automatically wrong.. that is until i was 14 - a light turned on in my head.
Don't let the Cathcart mafia get you.
isn't going to be wonderful??.
not being there..
I was there in '63, that was the "Around the World Assembly". Some went to every one as they went around the globe, it took them a year. Talk about groupies. I went to Milan with my parents by car afterwards. At the time it was really a fabulous experience. Looking back, the whole thing was just as misguided as now but I don't think anyone had a clue. Most people were whole-hearted and sincere and there were a lot of good people.
Now, since all the dissapointments and outrageous, deliberate rubbish that has been foisted in the name of spiritual food it is much harder to have any respect for those in authority.
isn't going to be wonderful??.

Ron Drage and his megaphone/personal amp and speaker. He is seriously ill with cancer now I hear.

Ahh, Wembly '69. They were good days when the world was simple, black and white, us and them, truth and lies. I loved it. Then like most youthful idealism, the fundamentals faded, the ideals became flawed, the foundations became suspect.
The stories I could tell.
